The David Gemmell Legend Award

There is a new award out there for Fantasy novels. The DGLA(David Gemmell Legend Award) will be presented for the very first time in 2009, recognizing the best of 2008. The DGLA was named after the late David Gemmell, and his most famous novel, Legend. The DGLA, founded by a group of 18 Fantasy authors, is chaired by Stan Nicholls, author of Orcs, and administered by Deborah J Miller, author of the Last Clansman, and Swarmthief.

The annual award will acknowledge the best Fantasy novel of 2008, voted on by the readers at large, of the Fantasy genre. That's right, WE get to vote on it, which, imho, should keep some of the politics out of it that seem to creep into awards committees and the like.

For more information, or to vote, go to:
http://gemmellaward.com/

You can even create a page on thier site if you want to become a member, though it's not required for voting.

Pass along the info so that we can get all the fans of the Fantasy genre to vote!! :)
